Good News, Bad News-It Just Depends on How You Look at It

Big news for The Very Best Cats household- I am now of the unemployed.  Yes, as of monday at 4:00 when I was called into my manager's office and told?  She didn't say I was being laid off.  She didn't say I was being fired.  I don't even think she said that she had to let me go.  It was a very weird discussion.  But I knew what the gist of it was because her manager was in the room as she discussed a problem with some documents I needed to have signed by a customer.  The documents are probably sitting in an unopened pile of mail, waiting to be signed and returned to me.  It's more complicated that I can write about due to respecting the privacy of this individual.

I think I probably surprised both managers because I did not try to defend my position regarding this last "accusation."  I used to defend my side rigorously when I felt I was being falsely accused of some problem at work.  One of my basic rules of life is if I am wrong, I will admit it.  But if I am not, look out.  I will argue my side because I won't take on a false accusation about myself or my work.

But with this last meeting, I was ready to give up the fight.  I knew this was coming for a very long time.  Management was not happy with me for many reasons.  And they have been trying to push me out for a while now.

So it is done.  Today I am looking for affordable health insurance for my husband and myself.  If anyone has any tips, I would really appreciate the help.

That's my big news for today.  I have not been unemployed since I was 19 years old. That's a lot of years ago for me.  So this is a big change.  Please, wish us all luck.  We may need it.

  1. Wow, that is a big change. I hope new work that is more soul-fulfilling and financially rewarding finds you quick.

As for the insurance, has your husband looked into Costco's offerings for small businesses? That's what I have done, I have found it cheaper than the individual plans available around here.

  2. Sometimes it is best to stop the process ans go with it. You have felt this coming for some time so you were not too surprised. I hope you find a new job and insurance soon.

  4. We hope you get some rest over the weekend. In some ways it must be a relief that is over, and we hope doesn't give you too much stress, and that things will work out alright.
