Close Encounters With Tigers

One of the best gifts I received this holiday season was a large, stuffed tiger, about 3-4 feet long in size,  and 2-3 feet tall.  My husband got this for me and it was so large that he wrapped it in a large garbage bag with a bow because we did not have as much gift wrap as he would have needed to wrap it.

Here he is!

The best part of receiving this gift, though, was watching both Tiger and Motor's reaction to seeing it for the first time.

Tiger, my brave boy, was actually afraid of it at first.  This surprised me because Tiger is practically fearless.  But here are some photos to show you his initial reaction.

First, you have to check it out from a distance.

Then, you ignore it.  Can't seem too interested too soon.

Then maybe, you get a little closer.

You give it the nose to nose sniff.
Motor wasn't around for the initial encounter and because Tiger was so frightened, I decided to move the stuffed tiger to another room.  When I did, Tiger had to go back to that room and have another face to face with the stuffed tiger, still, very cautiously.

Once again, you proceed very cautiously.

You have to circle around and give it the once over.

Then, the up close nose sniff.
When Motor did show up, he was much more curious and less frightened than Tiger.  That's unusual.  He is usually my cautious, frightened boy.

Tiger and Motor with the stuffed tiger.
In the end, Motor decides, no big deal.  He really wasn't very interested at all.

  2. It is fun to watch. Kirby would have given it the paw test. 'Let me whop it and run in case it whops back'
