I Need Help

I am having a really  tough time with putting flea medicine on my cats.  Instinctully,  they seem to know when I am planning on putting the med on and I can see the panic in their faces.  If they see me and Scott together at these times, they run and try to hide.

I don't know how to make this any less stressful for them.  And I get really stressed when I know I have to do this.

Please, if anyone has insight or information they can share with me to make this better for my boys, I would really appreciate the advice.

Could you and Scott "gang" up on them for a few nights and dry runs so they get used to the routine? Then try for the real thing.
Good luck! We are lucky in the desert, no fleas.

THat is a tough one. My DIL wraps her kitties in a towel and soothes them while my son does the meds!

Normally, my pawrents didn't give me any warning or the sign before they do. I just know my dad grabbed me and put me on the table and then mom come to hold my head wile one hand of my dad hold my body and then my dad just squeeze the flea through my neck...Done! and then I run ( not sure it help )

But you can watch in youtube how to apply it to your cat here : How to Apply Flea Control Medication on your Pet

We don't get flea medicine...well, Zoey did once but it was done by the vet. We hope you can get some good suggestions.

We haven't had a problem with fleas (knock on wood) so haven't had the pleasure yet. With Max, it was always a challenge. It took two of us and afterwards he would run away and turn around and give me the evil eye. I had to be strong. Will try same approach with current cats when the time comes.

It's not easy causing the animals distress even though it is for their best. I can't imagine how parents of human-children manage such things! yikes.

After posting my comment I thought I might as well apply the flea medicine right after trimming the claws. All went well, except Rose, she hates being handled and didn't permit it. A few minutes later and after loving on Theo for a time I remembered the problem I always have - I forget the flea stuff is there and end up smearing it all over as I pet them. Oops!
